Clark family recipe for Candied Yams.
Ingredients
- 4 medium sweet potatoes
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 stick butter
- cornstarch
Instructions
- Peel and cut potatoes into approx 1/4 inch rounds. Place in baking
- dish.
- Add sugar and water together and pour over potatoes. Cut butter
- into squares and place on potatoes. Cover with foil or lid and bake
- till potatoes are very tender, probably 1 to 1/2 hours, at 350
- degrees. Check for tenderness after 1 hr. When tender mix 1 tbsp.
- cornstarch with small amount of water and stir into potatoes.
- Recover and cook till liquid thickens. I like to turn broiler on after
- thickened and let top brown.
